The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) successfully held its 48th PICE National Convention and Technical Conference on 11-12 November 2022 at SMX Convention Center, Bacolod City, and via hybrid meeting application, with the theme “Civil Engineering and Its Specializations: Responding to Our New Normal and Foreseeing Our Futures”. The event gathered 4,500+ onsite and 10,600+ online participants.
The convention served as a venue for civil engineers to earn the continuing professional development units required by RA 10912 (CPD Law). The Technical Program included topics on the state of the art civil engineering technologies related to the seven (7) specialty divisions of PICE, namely: Project Management and Construction Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental & Energy Engineering, and Civil Engineering Education. The event also launched the Philippine Journal of Civil Engineering wherein several research papers of UP ICE faculty members were published.
Faculty members and alumni from UP ICE actively participated in the convention. Dr. Mark Albert Zarco moderated the Geotechnical Engineering presentations while Asst. Prof. Ma. Brida Lea Diola moderated the Environmental & Energy Engineering presentations.
