A paper by our graduates Ms. Nell Janine S. Co, Ms. Katherine F. Dimaculangan, and Asst. Prof. Mathew Harvey T. Peralta has been recently published in the Asian Transport Studies journal as part of the special issue on “COVID-19 and its Impact on Transport in Asian Countries”.
Their paper “Effects of Covid-19 pandemic on mode choice behavior of working Filipinos in Metro Manila” investigated the effects of the pandemic on working Filipinos’ transport mode choice in Metro Manila. Aside from discussing the change of significant factors that affect this choice before, during, and after the pandemic-related lockdowns, the study also showed a significant decrease in public transport share leading to increases in private and active mode shares. The shift has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels as of their writing.
