Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory is housed in L3 building of the Institute and started operation in 2017. The current state of the laboratory allows several types of tests to be performed, such as basic classification tests including sieve and hydrometer analysis, tests for permeability for coarse-grained soils, peak and residual shear strength and strain-strain behavior of soils using direct shear apparatus, in-situ field testing using Swedish Weight Sounding test, calibration of small-scale sounding tests in sand using fabricated Calibration chamber, and triaxial testing of soils under Anisotropic consolidation combined with compression or extension shearing.
