Publication Alert: Project ExPerlite publishes a paper on the utilization of expanded perlite as fine aggregate for Type M structural lightweight mortar

A paper by researchers and faculty members of UP ICE entitled “Physical and Morphological Investigation of the Utilization of Expanded Perlite as Fine Aggregate for Type M Structural Lightweight Mortar” has been recently published in the ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ): Vol. 13, No. 2 June 2023 issue.

The authors are: Clarence Guanzon, Jesha Faye Librea, Paolo Valencia, Jomar Christian Camposano, Rosabelle Louise Caram, Karlo Daniel Colegio, and Mathew Harvey Peralta.

The paper examined the influence of expanded perlite aggregates (EPA) on mortar properties and whether EPA could replace sand to produce mortar that meets the compressive strength requirement of ASTM Type M mortar.

This is one of the outputs of Project ExPerlite – Determination of Appropriate Expansion of Perlite to Conform to Standards of Lightweight Aggregates for Use in Construction, a project funded by DOST PCIEERD and led by Asst. Prof. Rosabelle Louise Caram (member of UP ICE Construction Engineering and Management Group).
