CE 197 and EnE 272 classes visit Metro Clark Waste Management Corp. Sanitary Landfill

The classes of CE 197: Sustainable Landfill Design and Management and EnE 272: Landfill Design and Operation visited the Metro Clark Waste Management Corp Sanitary Landfill located at Capas, Tarlac last May 6, 2024 as part of their course academic field activity (AFA). The BSCE and MS EnE students were accompanied by Asst. Prof. Matthew Travis Alcantara and Asst. Prof. Jessica Junio.

This field activity contributes to each of the course learning objective which is to design a sanitary landfill while considering engineering, environmental, economical, and social factors.

Personnel from the MCWMC discussed their landfill’s liner system, leachate treatment technology, and the waste tipping process and operations. The students were able to observe the landfill’s working face, leachate collection and treatment system and other facilities.

We would like to thank the people from MCWMC for their warm accommodation to our students.
