UP ICE congratulates Dr. Benito M. Pacheco for being conferred with the title of Professor Emeritus!
The conferment of this prestigious award for outstanding academic service was approved by the UP Board of Regents in its 1376th meeting on November 25, 2022. Dr. Pacheco is the second Prof. Emeritus of UP ICE, next to Dr. Guillermo Q. Tabios III who was given the title in 2020.
Dr. Pacheco is the founding director of UP ICE and is currently a professor and member of our Structural Engineering Group. Since returning from Japan and the USA as Balik-Scientist awardee by the DOST, for more than 25 years now he has been giving back to the country and paying it forward to the young Filipino people as he shares, and simultaneously enhances, his expertise in engineering, science and technology in general and in particular, disaster risk management.
