Publication Alert: EEEG members publish a review article on the effects of micro and nano plastics on rice

Dean Maria Antonia Tanchuling and Asst. Prof. Ma. Brida Lea Diola, members of our Environmental and Energy Engineering Group (EEEG), recently published a review article entitled “Micro and Nano Plastics Effect on Growth and Development of Rice (Oryza sativa L.): A Review” in the International Journal of Environmental Research.

This is one of the outputs of their collaborative work with the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Saitama University, Japan.

The review article aims to explain how micro and nano plastic (MNP) plastics interact with rice plants, including their absorption and transport mechanisms, impacts on physiological, biochemical, and molecular characteristics, and overall influence on the paddy soil-rice-plant–microbe relationship and rice quality and quantity. Through this, existing research findings on MNPs’ effects on rice growth and development are synthesized, identifying gaps for future studies.
