UP ICE TEG members receive awards at the TSSP 30th Annual Conference

Congratulations to the students/recent graduates and faculty members of UP ICE Transportation Engineering Group (TEG) for receiving the Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award at the recently concluded Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP) 30th Annual Conference!

The paper of Lester Jay OLLERO, Dr. Karl VERGEL and Dr. Noriel Christopher TIGLAO entitled “A Microsimulation Model of an Exclusive Bus Lane: The Case of EDSA Busway” won the Best Paper Award. Mr. Ollero received his MS Civil Engineering (Transportation) degree from UP Diliman. He was also a DOST Engineering Research for Development and Technology (ERDT) Scholar. Dr. Vergel is a Professor at UP ICE while Dr. Tiglao is a Professor at the UP Diliman National College of Public Administration and Governance. Both Dr. Vergel and Dr. Tiglao are Research and Extension Fellows of the National Center for Transportation Studies.

The conference’s Best Presentation Award was given to Louise Anne Quilay for her presentation “Development of Road Geometric Scanner Using Slamtec RPLiDAR A3”, co-authored with Dr. Lea BRONUELA-AMBROCIO. Ms. Quilay is a Teaching Assistant while Dr. Bronuela-Ambrocio is an Assistant Professor at UP ICE.

Aside from receiving certificates of recognition, the awardees also received cash prizes from the conference organizing committee.

The 30th Annual Conference of the Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP), with the theme “Sustainable Transport and Mobility Choices for Healthier Cities”, was held on 13 September 2024 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City. UP ICE Director Dr. Jose Regin Regidor served as the TSSP Scientific Committee Chair.
