The Institute uses mainly the office facilities in Main Building for its administrative functions. These include the Director’s Office, Deputy Directors’ Offices, Six (6) Academic Group Head Offices/Group Rooms, and Three (3) Faculty Offices. The Institute has conducive office spaces for its administrators and staff to perform their function to deliver quality services to its students and other stakeholders.
Each academic group of the Institute has their own group room/group head office. It is where the faculty members of the group hold their meetings to talk about their research agenda for the year to guide them in advising undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing research or advanced studies in their group. It is also where they gather to share their research, professional work, or extension work experiences. Occasionally, the group rooms are used for consultation sessions of students with their advisers for their research in both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Three large rooms serve as faculty offices for all of its 50 faculty members. Each faculty member is assigned their own cubicle in one of these offices where they also receive students for consultation, or visitors who seek their professional advice and expertise.
Research centers affiliated to the Institute have their own offices such as the National Hydraulic Research Center (NHRC), which is located in Melchor Hall, the UP Building Research Service (BRS) located in the National Engineering Center (NEC), and the National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS). It also uses a number of facilities of the College of Engineering.
