Dr. Nathaniel Diola and Asst. Prof. Doreen Candelaria, UP ICE Deputy Director for Planning, Development and Finance, and head of the Construction Engineering and Management Group, respectively, visited Paragon International University (PIU) in Cambodia on 17-20 January 2024 for a collaborative benchmarking engagement.
The purpose of the visit is to asisst PIU in developing the skills of the faculty members across a range of topics to facilitate the teaching of a new curriculum in the civil engineering program and move that department forward in the ASEAN University Network (AUN) accreditation process. Dr. Diola and Asst. Prof. Candelaria observed the handling of the different classes in the field of Civil Engineering, studied the existing curriculum, and visited various facilities within the Paragon International University.
Faculty members including Mr. Lida Sorn, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering of PIU, previously visited UP ICE on September 2023 for a benchmarking activity.
The activities are part of a MOA between UP Diliman and PIU, which is supported by the Government of Cambodia under their Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP), funded by the World Bank and managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. More activities are expected to be conducted this year.
